After a bushfire it is encouraged to get your water checked for safety if you’re going to be using it for potable or drinking water. However it will still be safe to use for watering the garden or fire security.
The Landsborough climate
Much like other areas in the South East, Landsborough is located in a humid subtropical climate, with warm wet summers, and cooler, drier winters.

The rich soil and sustainable rainfall made Landsborough an ideal logging town for early settlers, and was one of the largest of its type in the area.

Today the logging industry is not as prevalent and the town serves as a tourist stop off for those heading north from Brisbane.

At Southern Cross, we specialise not only in the design and manufacture of world wide water storage systems, but also the installation and service life. We take pride in the quality and design of our fire storage tanks.

We produce, engineer and design all of our water tanks in house, and we can design them for specific applications, including some seismic conditions, and high-wind and cyclonic environments.
Under certain conditions, our tanks can be designed to meet additional international fire codes if required.
Over 100 years of experience

In 1903, the original Southern Cross windmill was manufactured by the Griffiths family at the Toowoomba Foundry, and soon after so was the first Southern Cross water tank, leaving us with unparalleled expertise in taking care of towns like Landsborough’s water storage needs.

When the Griffiths family created the Southern Cross brand out of the Toowoomba Foundry, they almost certainly didn’t know that it would go on to become such an iconic Australian brand, still in operation over a century in the future.

Southern Cross is an Australian owned brand, and we still operate out of Loganholme to this day, assisting Australians from all walks of life, from rural families, to irrigators, to companies on commercial sites– even schools and universities.
Reliable in a pinch

Disaster struck the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in 2015, when a water tank built by one of our rivals suffered a catastrophic structural failure, rupturing the tanks and washing approximately 2.5 million litres of destructive water over Kawana way, even sweeping away a family car.

In the wake of the disaster, the developer of the University Hospital site enlisted Southern Cross to engineer and manufacture two new water storage tanks for the site, and the high standard engineering for those tanks has since become a measure for future commercial projects to comply to.

Landsborough Local Knowledge

Landsborough was named for the British-born explorer William Landsborough, who was the first European to cross Australia north to south.
